CLPGS: Membership Information

If you are interested in any of the above subjects or any aspect of the history of recorded sound then you should consider joining us.
The City Of London Phonograph And Gramophone Society (CLPGS), was inaugurated in 1919 from various smaller societies in London and has been meeting regularly up to the present day. Our first Patron was Thomas Alva Edison. In spite of the name we now have members Worldwide. We publish a quarterly journal (For The Record) with articles, letters, advertisements and other items all contributed by our members. We publish discographies, facsimile catalogues, and other books related to the history of Recorded sound. We also stock specialist books from other publishers.
Monthly meetings are held in Central London and regular meetings are held in various regions of the UK. We also hold Phonofairs where members and enthusiasts can meet to sell, buy, swap, machines, records and books etc.
CLPGS Membership runs from 1st. March to the last day in February. Anyone joining during the period March to November will receive all the issues of 'For the Record' relevant to that membership year. Anyone joining during December to February will receive the Winter issue of 'For the Record', their membership then commencing from the following 1st. March. Back issues of 'For the Record' are available to purchase from the Membership Secretary.

CLPGS Membership - JOIN US TODAY!

Thank you for visiting our membership website. 

If you have an interest in Vintage Phonographs, Gramophones, Old Records, the history of recorded sound, or just a love of music, you should join our Society.

Membership of The City of London Phonograph & Gramophone Society includes a subscription to the Society's quarterly journal For The Record, published in March, June, September, December each year.  For The Record, includes articles of interest to collectors, advertisements, and reports on meetings, notification of forthcoming events and other items contributed by our members. Issues of For The Record are 60 pages in length and are published in an A5 format, with colour illustrations. The CLPGS also publishes a Membership Directory, which is distributed free to members.
The editor of For The Record invites the submission of articles, classified advertising, and other pertinent material suitable for publication. Letters to the editor are always welcome. The views expressed in the journal represent the opinions of the authors and are not necessarily those of the editorial group of the journal.

If you would like to become a member of the CLPGS and receive its publication, For The Record, please print out the application form and mail it with your cheque or postal order payable to CLPGS Ltd, to:

Annual Subscription from March 1st. 2011 to February 29th. 2012 will be: -

UK & Europe £20/€35 or £15/€30 for registered students.
Rest of the World (outside Europe) £24/$50US(Airmail) or £21/$42US(Surface mail). Please note that surface mail normally takes about 6 weeks to arrive.
NOTE: If payment is to be made via an internet funds transfer system, please add £1 to the above rates. This is to allow for fees incurred by the CLPGS when using this method.
